Become an Alumni Mentor

The Alumni Mentoring Program pairs juniors with Posse alumni who have walked a similar path. Mentors can offer advice, help with resumes, share their networks, or even open doors to internships. It’s all about being a trusted resource.

About the Program

When students reach their junior year, they’re beginning to ask big questions about their future—careers, internships, networking, and life after college. That’s where our alumni come in.

The formal program lasts for six months, with a one-hour monthly check-in between mentor and mentee. While the structure is short-term, we hope the relationship continues to grow long after the program ends.

Each site hosts a kickoff event in the summer of the program to help mentors and mentees meet in person and begin building that connection.

How to Become an Alumni Mentor

  • The application to become a mentor is released each year around April via the Vanderbilt Posse Alumni LinkedIn Group.
  • Students will share their interests and goals in a form, which we use to thoughtfully match them with alumni mentors. We aim to pair students with mentors whose backgrounds and experiences align with their aspirations.
  • If you are not selected for the current cycle, we’ll keep your application on file and consider you for the next round.
