2021 Move-In

Incoming First-Year Students

First-year student move-in is scheduled for Saturday, August 21, 2021. Students will be provided with a specific move-in time between 7 a.m. and 12 p.m. with their room assignment information. Room assignment information will be mailed to all incoming first-year students on or before August 1, 2021. Prior to August 21, we will be preparing the halls for your arrival and as a result, will not be able to accommodate early move-in requests. Please plan your travel to Nashville accordingly.

First-Year Students Arriving On or Before Wednesday, August 18 (PRE-APPROVED EARLY ARRIVALS ONLY):

Please report to the Branscomb front desk for key pick up.

First-year international students arriving for international student orientation on Wednesday, August 18 should report directly to the Commons Center for key pick up.

First-Year Students Arriving on Thursday, August 19 or Friday, August 20 (PRE-APPROVED EARLY ARRIVALS ONLY):

Please report to the Hank Ingram desk for key pick up.

Continuing Upper-Division Students

Upper-division residence halls open on August 22, 2021. Prior to move-in, we will be preparing the halls for your arrival and as a result, will not be able to accommodate early move-in requests. Please plan your travel to Nashville accordingly.

Students Arriving On or Before Wednesday, August 18 (PRE-APPROVED EARLY ARRIVALS ONLY):

Please report to the Branscomb front desk for key pick up.

Students Arriving Between Thursday, August 19 and Saturday, August 21 (PRE-APPROVED EARLY ARRIVALS ONLY):

Please report to your area desk (listed below) for key pick up.

Important Notice for Village at Vanderbilt Townhouse and South Tower Residents:  Due to first-year student move in on Saturday, August 21, Village at Vanderbilt residents are not permitted to move in until after 12PM noon on Saturday, August 21.

Students Arriving On or After Sunday, August 22:

Please report to your area desk for key pick up.

Greek House Residents:

To obtain your room code, please contact the Office of Greek Life upon arrival at 615-322-2048.  Students arriving after close of business should contact either Kristin Torrey, Director of Greek Life, or Tiffany Carter, Graduate Assistant for Greek Life.

Incoming Transfer Students

Transfer student move-in is scheduled for Friday, August 20, 2021. Students will be provided with a specific afternoon move-in time with their room assignment information. Move-in times will range from 1 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Room assignment information will be emailed to all incoming transfer students on or before August 10, 2021. Prior to move-in, we will be preparing the halls for your arrival and as a result, will not be able to accommodate early move-in requests. Please plan your travel to Nashville accordingly.

General Info

Health & safety protocols
  • VISITORS: All visitors must mask indoors, as well as mask outdoors during check-in, faculty head of house meet and greets and orientation.
  • CAMPUS COMMUNITY: Students and staff must mask in residence halls during Move-In Weekend and must mask both indoors and outdoors during the move-in check-in process and during information sessions and programs.

Commodore Cards

Please ensure that you are in possession of your Commodore Card, or that you have activated your Mobile Commodore Card prior to your arrival.  Instructions for activating your Mobile Commodore Card are available here.  If you have lost your Commodore Card and do not own a smartphone/have a compatible device, please contact the Card Office at 615-322-2273 or commodorecard@vanderbilt.edu.

Traffic Flow and Designated Unloading Areas for Upper-Division and Transfer Students

Important Information for Residents of Cole, Greek Houses, McGill, Nicholas S. Zeppos College, and Tolman:

Students residing in these residential buildings will have access to 24th Ave., Kensington Place, and West Side Row to unload their belongings between 7AM – 11PM daily through Tuesday, August 24.  Vehicles should NOT block the flow of traffic, and should relocated immediately after unloading to your designated student parking.  Any vehicles impeding the flow of traffic are subject to removal.
