Taqiyyah Elliott

Taqiyyah Elliott is a 2nd-year doctoral student in Religion, Psychology, and Culture at Vanderbilt University. Her research centers on the well-being of adolescent Black girls, exploring the intersections of spirituality and self-development and their implications for the practices of spiritual care providers and pastoral theologians and curating community-based spaces that nurture Blackgirls’ identity and spiritual growth. Aside from her research, she directs an after-school program in Nashville for high school Black girls, focusing on mental health, identity, literacy, arts, and college/career preparation. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her partner, bonus kid, and other loved ones, along with watching films, divining with all things sacred, creative writing, dance, and expressive arts.
