As announced in October 2017, Vanderbilt will launch a new University Counseling Center (UCC) slated to open in July 2018 and report to the Office of the Dean of Students. The UCC will replace the existing Psychological and Counseling Center (PCC), which currently reports to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

In an effort to prioritize mental health and wellness, the new UCC will offer all Vanderbilt students (undergraduate, graduate and professional, and postdoctoral scholars) a mix of direct access counseling, targeted wellness services, and referrals to community providers for specialized care. The UCC will be designed to work closely with health and wellness partners, such as the Student Health Center and the Center for Student Wellbeing, to provide an integrated network of care (referred to as Vanderbilt’s Student Care Network) for students and postdoctoral scholars.

To facilitate this restructuring, the university launched a search for the Director of the new UCC. The search committee is chaired by Ranga Ramanujam, professor of management at the Owen Graduate School of Management. Vanderbilt is also working with the consulting firm, Keeling & Associates, to implement best practices in university counseling services.

The UCC will collaborate with the newly created Office of Student Care Coordination, a unit of the Office of the Dean of Students charged with directing students to the appropriate wellness resources. The new Office of Student Care Coordination will also open in July 2018.

Please know that we value the feedback of all Vanderbilt constituents. As you explore the information collected here about the university’s plans to develop the UCC, please submit your feedback and questions using the UCC feedback form.
