Outcomes

Our goal in sharing this data is to promote transparency, set realistic expectations, and celebrate the diverse pathways that lead to success in healthcare and medicine. We encourage students and families to use these statistics as one of many tools to inform preparation, while remembering that each application is reviewed holistically and every student’s path at Vanderbilt towards a healthcare professional school is truly unique.

About the Data

We compile admissions statistics and outcomes to provide students, families, and alumni with a clear picture of the pre-health/med journey at Vanderbilt. These reports highlight applicant numbers, acceptance rates, exam scores, GPAs, and the variety of majors among successful applicants.

Pre-Health/Med admissions outcomes are based on the holistic preparation of an applicant. Besides academic accomplishment (GPA) and entrance exam scores, healthcare admissions committees look at holistic development areas (community service, clinical experiences, research, etc.) school fit of a candidate, and application timing.

2024

Program acceptance rates represent graduates of Vanderbilt undergraduate programs who applied to medical school via AMCAS (American Medical College Application Service®) and gave permission to release their acceptance data to the HPAO office.
