Vanderbilt University offers certificate programs in several different programs of interest. All degree-seeking students at the Graduate Department of Religion are eligible to apply for certificate programs during the spring semester of their first year of study, or at any point prior to graduation, provided that the required courses have been completed.
To receive a certificate, one must take 15 credit hours of courses in the designated area. The student must submit a Notification of Intent to Enroll in a Graduate Certificate Program form with the appropriate signatures to the Graduate School. Once the course requirements have been satisfied, the student will submit the Graduate Certificate Checklist to the Graduate School. - African American and Diaspora Studies - Interdisciplinary scholarship in African Diaspora studies.
- American Studies - Interdisciplinary graduate certificate designed to introduce student to the questions and methods of American studies.
- Asian Studies - Interdisciplinary study of the societies and cultures of Asia.
- Business Management Certificate - Builds a foundation of business and leadership skills applicable to any industry.
- Gender and Sexualities Studies - Interdisciplinary scholarship in the robust field of gender studies.
- Global Health - Interdisciplinary scholarship in modern-day medical, public health, and nursing practices.
- Graduate Certificate in Religion, Gender, and Sexuality - Explores the complex set of issues dealing with religion, gender and sexuality.
- Healthcare Management Certificate - Provides healthcare practitioners the much-needed skills to take on management and leadership roles. Establishes a solid groundwork in business and leadership competencies tailored for the healthcare sector.
- Jewish Studies - Interdisciplinary scholarship in Jewish studies.
- Latin American Studies- (As of July 1, 2026, CLACX NO LONGER offers a Graduate Certificate. Students enrolled in the Certificate Program prior to May 15, 2026 will be eligible to complete the certificate.)
