August 11, 2020: Vanderbilt published its new Sexual Misconduct Policy. This policy incorporates the U.S. Department of Education’s new Title IX regulations which govern Vanderbilt’s procedures for investigating and adjudicating allegations of sexual harassment (as defined by the regulations). The regulations went into effect on August 14, 2020 and required Interim Changes to the Faculty Manual as they were not published until May 19, 2020, after the Faculty Senate was in recess for the summer.
Under Part I, Chapter 5 of the Faculty Manual, Interim Changes to the Faculty Manual may be necessary in response to regulatory changes. As the Faculty Senate comes back into session, the Faculty Senate and its Faculty Manual Committee will work with campus partners to review the Interim Changes and to refine them further. For more information on the new provisions, please see the Vanderbilt Sexual Misconduct Policy and/or this recent MyVU article .
