Virtual Peabody Professional Programs Open House

Explore Peabody’s professional (master’s and Ed.D.) programs during this virtual open house event! A Peabody overview information session will take place from 4:30–5:20 p.m., followed by individual program Zoom meetings from 5:20–6:00 p.m. Each professional program will hold its own unique Zoom meeting so you can take a deep dive into an individual program’s curriculum, practicum experience, faculty, and more.

Hear from a panel of successful Peabody College Ed.D. alumni who are currently employed as student affairs and student well-being professionals. Alumni panelists include Mona Hicks (Senior Associate Vice Provost and Dean of Students at Stanford University), Joseph Greenwell (Vice President for Student Affairs at Columbia University), and Christopher Sewell (Dean of First-Year Students at Williams College). Professor Brenda McKenzie will facilitate the panel discussion.

Pumpkin Palooza

All attendees MUST follow Return to Campus policies.

Looking for some fall fun? Grab some classmates and make new friends at our in-person Pumpkin Palooza. You will be provided one mini-pumpkin, some decorations to help create your masterpiece, and a fall goodie bag! Let your creative juices flow as you design your pumpkin, and, when complete, upload a photo to be entered in our contest.

Studying remotely or unable to join in person? You can still participate by decorating your own mini-pumpkin at home! We’d love to see pictures of your painted pumpkins and have you enter into our contest.

What’s Your Why? Featuring Chris Purcell

What’s Your Why provides a space to learn more about our campus leaders, who were once students, too, and who they are as individuals and academics—their hopes, expectations and challenges and the important lessons they learned along the way.

Chris Purcell has worked for social justice and equity in higher education throughout his career. He has earned his Ed.D. from Peabody in Higher Education Policy & Leadership. Through his career, Chris has held administrative positions at Duke University, Berklee College of Music, and now Vanderbilt, where he began as Director of LGBTQI Life in 2013. In his free time, he enjoys drag shows, concerts, playing tennis, watching Vanderbilt’s basketball teams and volunteering for community organizations.

Hard and Soft Skills in Vocational Training: Experimental Evidence from Colombia

Join the Peabody Research Office for a presentation by Dr. Felipe Barrera-Osorio, Associate Professor of Public Policy, Education, and Economics in the Department of Leadership, Policy, and Organizations, to discuss his recent research about Colombia.
