Abby Mack

Abby Mack is a language teaching specialist at the English Language Center at Vanderbilt University. Previously, she was a clinical assistant professor at NYU, where she won a university-wide Teaching Excellence Award and co-founded the Collaborative for New Immigrant Education. She has also taught English to international students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Parkland College, and the University of Oregon. She has supervised teachers in training in the M.A. TESOL program at Hunter College and has taught EAL, Spanish, and IELTS preparation courses in secondary schools and corporations. At NYU, she created the Planning and Assessment course for the Certificate in TESOL and co-founded the Collaborative for New Immigrant Education. Abby holds a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a B.A. in Spanish from the University of Evansville. She has consulted with universities to help prepare them for language program accreditation and has served as a site reviewer for the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA). Mack is a frequent presenter at regional, national, and international professional conferences. Her research interests include second language literacy, second language assessment, and teacher training.
