Student Advisory Board

About

The Dialogue Vanderbilt Student Advisory Board was established to ensure student voices remain front and center in the development and implementation of Dialogue Vanderbilt’s programming and strategy. This group of dedicated undergraduate students reflects the myriad perspectives, experiences, and academic interests across Vanderbilt’s student population.

Student Advisors collaborate to develop and lead on-campus programming, in partnership with faculty and staff, and aim to serve as role models for their campus community. Their efforts are rooted in the likeminded desire to create a campus environment where free expression flourishes, and productive discourse can thrive.

Senior Student Spotlight

Scout Halligan is a senior from Nashville, Tennessee. She is majoring in Economics and Political Science, with a minor in Data Science. Scout has been a member of the Student Advisory Board since 2023; now, on the Executive Team, Scout is continuing to support the development of campus programming as a student leader for Dialogue Vanderbilt. In addition to the SAB, Scout is involved in with Vanderbilt Prison Project and Vanderbilt Debate. Following her graduation in May, Scout will join the team at Goldman Sachs.

What is the best part about being on the Student Advisory Board?

“The best part of being on the SAB is getting the opportunity to engage in dialogue with my peers. It’s so refreshing to connect with people through meaningful conversation, and to get to know someone as a whole person. I love that I get to share that feeling with the Vanderbilt community.”

Senior Student Spotlight

Noah Jenkins is a senior from Kissimmee, Florida. Noah is an Economics and History and Philosophy double major, also minoring in Business. During his time as Student Advisor with Dialogue Vanderbilt, Noah had also held a leadership position with the Vanderbilt College Republicans and helped reestablish the College Republican/Democrat Debate as a highly anticipated annual series. Noah is excited to return to his home state after graduation to attend law school at the University of Florida.

What’s been your favorite program with Dialogue Vanderbilt?

“In the spring of 2025, I was able to lead a dinner discussion with New York Times opinion writer David French. That experience will always be the highlight of my time with Dialogue Vanderbilt."

Senior Student Spotlight

Katie Tully is a senior from Huntington Beach, California, majoring in Political Science with a minor in Business. Katie has played a critical role in creating opportunities for students to have productive conversations on campus, including developing the Free Expression Poster her sophomore year and establishing the “Ask Me Anything” tabling engagement. On campus, Katie is also a dedicated member of Sigma Phi Lambda. Following her graduation, Katie will join the team at Baker Group Strategies.

Why did you think dialogue is essential in the classroom, workplace, and beyond?

“Being able to engage in productive dialogue allows us to communicate with, collaborate with, and have meaningful friendships with people who we disagree with. It helps us to solve problems more effectively, push ourselves to refine our own views, and to understand why others come to the opinions that they hold.”
