Free Expression Poster

Dialogue Vanderbilt’s Free Expression Poster comes to life as an engagement exercise where students are encouraged to thoughtfully respond to a prompt of current interest by writing their answers on a physical poster—a visible representation of gathering dynamic conversations happening on campus.

Past prompts have included:

“To me, a post-election America looks like…”

“Advocate for a cause you care about in one sentence"

“What is a question you have about another religion?”

Lunch & Learn Series

Dialogue Vanderbilt's Lunch & Learn series invites students to engage in curated discussion topics with exciting guest and faculty speakers.

Topics are phrased as a question to encourage humility, curiosity and open engagement reminding us to learn and ask, rather than assume.

Past topics have included:

"Can a company do good and do well?"

"How do you want to change the world?"

"Who's responsible for the internet?"

Campus Tabling

Dialogue Vanderbilt Student Advisors execute tabling bimonthly on campus near the high-traffic area at Rand Dining Hall as an opportunity to engage with their peers and faculty.

Student Advisors set an example that encouraging peer-to-peer conversations supports open dialogue on campus.

Student Debates

In partnership with the Vanderbilt Political Review, Dialogue Vanderbilt sponsors the Vanderbilt College Democrat and Republican Debate Series on campus.

Students participate in town hall-style debates twice each semester modeling for the Vanderbilt community how two sides to an issue can engage in thoughtful, respectful debate with one another.

Past debates included Abortion, Immigration, and Bureaucracy, as well as the Role of Religion in Politics.

Vandy SpeakEasy

The Vandy SpeakEasy is Dialogue Vanderbilt's space for low-stakes, tech-free, curiosity-driven conversations on a variety of topics.

Launched as a "third space" for student-to-student conversations, the SpeakEasy creates a unique opportunity for our students to connect with their peers, establishing a greater trust in one another and more willingness to lean in, ask questions, and engage with new ideas.
