Facilities Data Domain

Facilities data includes information related to the physical infrastructure, services and resources at Vanderbilt University to optimize the use of campus resources, maintain the physical infrastructure, and support the overall campus experience.

The Facilities Data Domain is divided into Subdomains providing information on a more granular level.

Data classification is a practice that helps us understand the value of our data and identify more sensitive data.  The more sensitive the data, the more cautious you must be about accessing and sharing it with others and the more protections it needs to safeguard it from mishandling or misuse.

Vanderbilt University has a Data Classification Policy that has categorized VU data into the 4 levels listed below. Data classification for transactional row level data are assigned at the Subdomain level.  However the same data may be classified differently dependent on the format of the data.

  • Planning, Design, and Construction (PDC)

    Capital Projects Management System software to assist managing capitol and operating projects from large-scale to small scope. Key features include project planning and scheduling, cost management, document management, stakeholder collaboration, progress monitoring and reporting, and change management.

  • Space - Floor Plans

    Serves as the official campus-wide reference point for issuing facility and room space numbering and for official building square footage. Maintains “as-built” floor plans for all facilities (Medical & University). Conducts space inventory of all non-medical space for indirect Cost Accounting and plan square feet. Updates and monitors official non-medical space assignment plan. Advises on documents, space use and space changes.

  • Space - GIS and Maps

    GIS mapping is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the University’s campus maps.
