Dan Lovinger was elected to the Vanderbilt Board of Trust in 2020. He received a BA in economics from Vanderbilt in 1987.
In his current role at NBCUniversal Sports Group, Mr. Lovinger oversees the combined linear and digital advertising sales and client partnerships for NBCU’s Sports properties including, The Olympics, The NFL, Notre Dame Football, The NHL, Premier League Soccer, The Golf Channel, PGA Tour Golf, Ryder Cup, The US Open Golf Championship, The (British) Open Championship, Nascar, NBC Sports Network, Triple Crown Horse Racing, Tour De France, French Open Tennis Championship and select other sports properties.
Mr. Lovinger’s experience includes more than 30 years in advertising sales and business development, working both domestically and internationally in cable, digital, and print. From 2006-2010, Mr. Lovinger was Senior Vice President, MTV 360 Brand Sales & Integrated Marketing. In this role, he served as the senior-most advertising sales executive responsible for ad revenue across MTV, MTV Tr3s, MTV2, MTVu, and MTV.com.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Lovinger held various sales positions at Turner Broadcasting in New York and in 1994 he became vice president for Turner International in London, England, where he was responsible for Ad Sales for CNN International and Cartoon Network.
At Vanderbilt, Mr. Lovinger is the outgoing president of the Alumni Association Board (AAB), and has served on the AAB since 2013. He was the 2017 Giving Day chair for the College of Arts and Science, has been a Commodore Recruitment program participant (CoRPs) since 2008, and lectured at the New York City Chapter reception in 2015. Mr. and Mrs. Lovinger were members of the 2012 Undergraduate Reunion Fundraising and Attendance Committee and they hosted the 2018 and 2019 Summer Send-off parties in their home. Mr. Lovinger created the Vandy on Madison Avenue summer internship program in 2010.
