Getting Ready for Fall 2010

Posted by on Sunday, August 8, 2010 in Tip.

Getting to Know the New OAK. There are some significant changes to OAK and several new features. Instructors are encouraged to download the “Getting to Know Blackboard 9.1” guide with screenshots of the new course menus and control panel.

Moving Course Material: Course Export vs. Course Copy. When copying content from one course to another, the “Course Export” function is preferred over “Course Copy.”  Using “Course Export” will allow instructors to keep an archive of the course on their computer and will aid in a more complete course copy as courses become larger.

Making a Course Available. Before students can access a course, instructors must make it “Available.”  “Unavailable” courses can only be accessed by Course Instructors, Teaching Assistants, and Course Builders.

Finding News and Information. The OAK website was redesigned this summer to highlight  news and information, bring out important dates, find help, and get training on-demand. Bookmarking the website to use as a login for OAK, or visiting often, is highly recommended.
