FAQ: Aspie Bootcamp: Python
Application
- How do I apply for the Bootcamp?
A selection process is made each year by way of applications through a Google form. This form is often released around February-March and will be announced on the FCAI website and socials when it is available.
The form will be available at the Bootcamp webpage, and through the news release.
- Can I apply to bootcamp after the deadline?
Although we request you try your hardest to apply before the deadline (to not provide extra work for our course instructor) we may accept applications after the deadline, space permitting. Please fill in the application form and then contact the course staff found below.
- Are there any restrictions on who may apply for the bootcamp?
Anyone 18 or over is welcome to apply for the bootcamp. We do consider 16-18 year olds with parental consent, but due to safety considerations we do not accept applications from those under 16. However, the course is recorded and can be found publicly on the FCAI YouTube for anyone under 16 who may want to see the course material.
Logistics
- How long is the Bootcamp?
The bootcamp is 10 weeks throughout the summer, with an online class each week.
- What technology do I need access to in order to take part in the bootcamp?
A laptop or desktop computer is preferred, with a reasonable internet connection and the ability to access Zoom, replit, and other websites.
Questions about Classes
- What if I need to miss a class?
Missing a class is completely fine. All class sessions are uploaded to the Frist Center’s Youtube channel, so you can catch up on anything you missed.
- How much time should I spend on assignments outside of class?
The recommended time for studying/assignments is one hour per week. However, this depends on individual study preferences and previous experience with programming. There will be approximately one assignment per week.
- What if I cannot attend the live Zoom classes?
All classes will be uploaded to Youtube. If you prefer to watch the recordings instead of attending the Zoom session, you are welcome to.
