*Attendance and active class participation are mandatory. Excessive absences and failure to
perform the assignments in class will be reflected in your final grade. Your course grade will fall by 1/2 letter if you accumulate 7 absences during the semester, and by one full letter if you miss between 8 and
ten days per semester. More than 10 absences will drop your course grade by 2 letters.

For undergraduate students
1 class presentation
at least 1 class discussion: student(s) will lead the discussion(s) of text assigned
a small paper analysis of selected movie(s), 2 pages minimum, due 09/24
a small paper analysis of selected movie(s), 2 pages minimum, due 10/29
a midterm paper, 12 pages minimum
a final paper, 12 pages minimum
For graduate students
1 class presentation
at least 1 class discussion: student(s) will lead the discussion(s) of text assigned
a small paper analysis of selected movie(s), 5 pages minimum, due 09/24
a small paper analysis of selected movie(s), 5 pages minimum, due 11/19
a midterm paper, 18 pages minimum
a final paper, 18 pages minimum
* All homework assignments must be turned in on time. No late work will be accepted.
* Also note that students are expected to perform the assignments in Portuguese
