Brazilian Cinema:

From Cinema Novo to Central Station

Brazil has one of the most fascinating national cinemas worldwide. In the 1960s, the Cinema Novo inaugurated an esthetically revolutionary cinematic language, empowered by a vigorous social discourse.

In the decades that followed, even when faced by mounting financial difficulties, Brazilian cinema has succeeded in continuously engaging audiences with its dynamism and creativity. This course will chronologically study some of the main trends of Brazilian Cinema, from the pre-Cinema Novo to some of its most recent productions.
