AWARD NOMINATION SUBMISSIONS FOR FALL STAFF ASSEMBLY TO OPEN FRIDAY, JULY 21
The Fall Staff Assembly and staff awards are part of the semi-annual effort to celebrate staff excellence and recognize the many contributions of university staff to Vanderbilt’s mission. This year’s Fall Staff Assembly is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 21st.
Award nominations can be submitted online through the online nomination form and are open Friday, July 21st through Sunday, Aug. 6th. Please see the Staff Awards website for nomination guidelines and award amounts. The Staff Awards Review Committee reviews all applications and makes a recommendation to senior administration.
The fall awards for staff excellence are as follows:

Professional Excellence Award
Innovation Excellence Award
Research Excellence Award
Student Impact Award
Leadership Excellence Award
The Fall Staff Assembly is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 21st, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. CT and will feature comments from the chancellor and the University Staff Advisory Council. A reception will follow. More details about the event will be announced at a later date.

According to the APA’s (American Psychological Association) Work in America workforce survey, 71% of respondents either strongly agreed or somewhat agreed that they matter at work, and 19% responded that they are either not at all satisfied, or they are not very satisfied with the level of personal fulfillment gained through their work. Jules White (pictured above), associate dean for strategic learning programs and associate professor of computer science at Vanderbilt University, is making ChatGPT more accessible and useful for the broader public with the launch of his free online Prompt Engineering for ChatGPT course. Through Coursera for Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt faculty, staff and students can earn this certificate at no cost.
