Vanderbilt Student Government E-Newsletter [Vanderbilt University]

September 21, 2020

Hey, everyone!

It’s election season and every day there’s news that emphasizes just how important this election will be. We are voting for our President, 1/3 of the Senate, the entire House of Representatives, and most likely other local/state positions.

In 2018 only 37.7% of eligible Vandy students actually voted, and we’re hoping to raise that number by providing a ton of resources to y’all! The highlights can be found in this voting resources guide, and you can keep reading for extra info.

TurboVote

VU bought the TurboVote service for all students!

A super easy way to register to vote and/or request an absentee ballot. You can request the forms be mailed to you, and they’ll come with prepaid postage for you to mail back. Plus, you can sign up for text or email reminders to make sure you don’t miss a deadline. Click here to get started.

What’s on my ballot?

A great question! Vote411 has all the answers. Click here, answer 3 simple questions, and you’ll see every race, candidate, and platform that you can vote for!

Voter Registration Drive

In 2018, only 64.5% of eligible Vandy students were registered to vote… that’s 2.1% lower than the national average for institutions. But we can change those statistics!

Sign up for a time to register to vote at the Vanderbilt Football Stadium on National Voter Registration Day! Volunteers will be ready to help you make your voting plan, register to vote, and sign up for helpful reminders and resources from TurboVote from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
