Oracle Cloud Updates

Oracle Update 20C Completed

The most recent Oracle Cloud update was completed during the weekend of August 21-22 and included enhancements to the global search.

To use the enhanced search for people and actions:

  1. Click the search bar;
  2. Enter a person’s name or an action keyword; and then
  3. Once the search populates with results, select the desired person or action from the list.  Actions include opening various Oracle modules, such as Expenses and Learning, and Quick Actions, such as viewing your Absence balances or managing your Team.

Update: Enhancement to Expense-Related Reports

A new hyperlink has been added to the Expense Report Summary and Expense Report Details reports in the Departmental Playbook that will allow Financial Unit Managers and Approvers to link directly to the detailed expense report within the user interface to review additional details.

To use this feature:

  1. Run the Expense Report Details or Expense Report Summary report in the Departmental Playbook
  2. Click the Report Number hyperlink
  3. Click View Expense Report to open the report in the user interface

Note: Depending on your browser settings, the expense report will open in a new browser tab or window – when you have finished your review, please close the tab or window as applicable.

In Focus

Coming Soon: Oracle Knowledge

Over the course of the next month, users will begin to see a new My Knowledge module available in Oracle Cloud.

My Knowledge is a knowledge base of articles ranging from policies and procedures to technical articles and FAQs.  Users will have access to search across functional areas in the knowledge base and the option to mark their favorite helpful articles as well as share those links with team members.

Following My Knowledge, we will also be introducing an in-system Help Desk where members of the community can request assistance from functional teams when they are not able to locate the information they need in Knowledge.  This feature will provide both users and functional teams the ability to track the status of requests.

For more information and a preview of these coming attractions, please review the recorded August 2020 Finance and HR User Group meeting available in Oracle Learning.  Additional information and instructions will be provided in the coming months in user group meetings and via MyVU and other communications.

Tip of the Week

Important Reminder: Use of Modern Browser

All users are reminded that Oracle Cloud requires use of a modern internet browser, such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.

In addition, users should keep their browser software updated to the latest version and clear their browser history (ie, cache) regularly, whether manually or via browser options that clear this information automatically.

Please note: All users must discontinue use of Microsoft Internet Explorer, which is not a modern browser, before Oracle Release 20D is implemented in November.
