Jon Winkelried, elected as a Vanderbilt Trustee in 2012 and vice chairman of the Board in 2014, received an A.B. in Economics and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Mr. Winkelried is currently co-CEO of TPG Holdings/TPG Capital, L.P., one of the world's largest alternative asset management firms. He was with the Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. for more than 27 years when he retired in 2009 as the company's president and co-chief operating officer. He also serves as a strategic advisor to Thrive Capital, a New York based venture capital firm. He serves on the Board of Directors for Evolution Media, Delos Living LLC, and Bounty Minerals and is on the Board of Overseers for Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He was a member of the Board of the University of Chicago from 2006 to 2012.

At Vanderbilt, Mr. Winkelried chairs the Board of Trust Investment Committee and also serves as a member of the Vanderbilt Technology Transfer and Enterprise Development Advisory Committee. In addition, he and his wife Abby were the Vanderbilt Parents Campaign co-chairs for 2011-2012. They have been members of the Parents Leadership Committee since 2010.

Mr. and Mrs. Winkelried live in San Francisco, California and Hobe Sound, Florida.
