preview pagePractical Strategies
CSEFEL has created tools and resources that provide “Practical Strategies” for teachers and caregivers. These resources included Book Nooks, tools for Building Relationships, Scripted Stories for Social Situations, and tools for developing behavior support plans.

What Works Briefs
What Works Briefs are summaries of effective practices for supporting children's social-emotional development and preventing challenging behaviors. The Briefs describe practical strategies, provide references for additional information about the practice, and include a one-page handout that highlights the major points of the Brief.

What Works Brief Training Kits
Based on the What Works Briefs topics, short training packages are available that include PowerPoint slides with accompanying note pages, activities, and handouts, which provide a trainer with the materials needed to conduct a short staff development program on a focused topic

Parent Training Modules/ Family Tools
A series of six modules have been developed to help professionals working with parents to promote positive and effective parenting behaviors in order to promote children’s social and emotional development and address the challenging behavior and mental health needs of children in child care and Head Start programs

Decision Making Guidelines
These short 1-2 page documents were developed to offer a strategy to aid programs in making decisions about practical issues (e.g., selecting a social emotional curriculum, selecting screening and assessment tools focused on social emotional competence).
