Where to Find Us
Creative Services is conveniently located within the Public Affairs suite on the 11th floor of the Loews Vanderbilt Plaza office building. A separate entrance for the office building is to the left of the main hotel entrance. If you are driving to our offices, you can access visitor parking in the joint hotel/office building garage, by entering the main driveway in front of the hotel, veer to the left, following the self-park directional signage to the parking garage. Visitors may park in spaces that are not marked reserved or for valet. There is no charge for the first 30 minutes of parking; vouchers for additional 30-minute increments are available from Creative Services staff.
If visiting Creative Services from a starting place other than main campus and/or if you want to avoid West End Avenue during rush hour, consider approaching Loews from Elliston Place or Hayes Street, then driving southeast along 21st Avenue South (note it is one-way in that section), then turning right onto West End Avenue. The address for our building is 2100 West End Avenue, 37203.
After four years at 3401 West End, Creative Services moved to Loews in February 2015. Prior to that, CS spent more than 20 years at the Baker Building. Originally 13 staff occupied a portion of the 850 Baker suite. They had moved in the early 1990s from one of the houses on 18th Avenue, near present-day Curb Center. Soon after the move to Baker, Vanderbilt graphic artists relinquished the standard tools of the trade: drawing boards and T-squares, and they were early adopters of Apple Macintoshes, as graphic design software and digital photography changed our business. The photography dark room was removed about the same time that the photography staff expanded (later merging with the medical center photography offices) into the 7-person robust team they are today. A portrait studio took its place, as our increasingly visually oriented marketing materials and websites demanded higher quality photography. Trademark licensing activities grew and expanded over the years, as well, especially after the launch of a new logo and graphic standards in 2003, and the university/medical center split in 2015. Our office location and space needs have changed and evolved over the nearly 40 years of our existence. Our Loews offices and large photo studio are perfectly suited for our staff. The open areas with their enviable dramatic views of campus from our 11th-floor location inspire our group of friendly collaborative creatives to spontaneously share ideas that help all Vanderbilt offices market and promote their programs.
