Technological Initiatives
Objectives

The Technological Initiatives component of F2P2 recognizes that participants not only come from varied disciplines and have varying technological skill levels but also have diverse technological interests. As participants complete other requirements for F2P2, they will undoubtedly gain technological knowledge in the areas of Professional Development, Teaching and Learning, and the World of the University so that, ultimately, technology is infused throughout the program. Keeping the Technological Initiatives component separate, however, emphasizes the role that technology plays in academia in the new millennium. Therefore, the objectives and expectations for this component are broad. F2P2 participants should:

  1. Have a working knowledge of a technology used in teaching and learning. The phrase "working knowledge of a technology used" is meant to be broad and self-interpreted by F2P2 participants in recognition of the diversity of graduate students, professional students, and postdocs, as well as their interests, needs, and disciplines, and the self-directed aspect of F2P2;

  2. Have thought about and reflected on the role of technology in higher education and be aware of current trends in the use of technology.
