We at Vanderbilt University Campus Dining take pride in the culinary creations served from our kitchens! Our dining program is highly decorated, as we are the winner of many prestigious awards in the food service industry, including Best On-site Food Service Operation in the Nation, Best Food Service Operator, the prestigious Ivy Award, and so much more! We have 4 main dining centers, 10 restaurants and cafes, and 6 convenience stores—all of which are staffed and operated by well over 300 dedicated team members!

You are the “face” of our operation. You provide world-class customer service to all of our students, faculty, and staff members who dine with us. You’ll operate a Point-of-Sale system to ensure the accuracy of all orders of all customers coming through your line. What’s more, you’ll have the opportunity to brighten the day of everyone who comes your way! We depend on you…you matter!

Whether providing exclusive dishes for a high profile executive meeting for our Chancellor or feeding special guests for a major gala taking place on or off-campus, catering offers you a smaller-scale operation that gives you the opportunity to hone your specialty culinary arts skills for clients with complex needs and desires. Whether it’s cutting, dicing, or slicing; weighing and measuring ingredients; or preparing foods for the kitchen leaders to serve, this is where you learn how to put it all together! Once you’ve mastered this, you’re ready to move to the next level! Our Cooks, Senior Cooks, Sous Chefs, and Chefs depend on you to get the culinary process started. We depend on you…you matter!

What do thousands of students, faculty, and staff; 4 main dining centers; and 10 restaurants and cafes have in common? They depend on YOU! Literally, without you, there’s no us. You maintain the health, sanitation, and cleanliness of our entire operation. Your work is critical to our success and our ability to feed thousands of people every day. You provide the clean dishes, utensils, glasses, mugs, and other food service items that allow customers to enjoy the creations served from our kitchens. We depend on you…you matter!

You, too, are the “face” of our operation. You provide world-class customer service to all of the students, faculty, and staff members who enter your stores, and you’ll work to maintain accurate inventory levels throughout the store to ensure that customers have what they need when they need it. You’ll operate a Point-of-Sale system to ensure the accuracy of all orders coming through your line. What’s more, you’ll have the opportunity to brighten the day of everyone who comes your way! We depend on you…you matter!

Sous Chef

You are largely responsible for leadership in the kitchen. You’re not just a culinary “artist”; you’ve spent a considerable amount of time in various aspects of the kitchen space, and you know what it takes to get the job done, no matter what role. You’re a trainer, a mentor, and a leader, and you provide direction to the team members inside the kitchen in areas such as food preparation, food presentation, menu planning, and overall culinary excellence. You’ll also oversee inventory and supplies and ensure that your team has what it needs to bring the most delicious food to those who dine with us! We depend on you…you matter!
