“Polymer Extrusions in Catheter Based Delivery Devices: an Introduction to Materials, Properties and Specifications”
In this seminar Zeus will provide a broad overview of catheter based devices and materials needs of those as well as engineering specifications and performance characteristics that are needed to achieve desired device function. We offer an insight into what materials are typically used and what process are traditionally employed.
Zeus has presented at a number of different universities around the US including Stanford, UNC and Johns Hopkins to name a few.
Dr. Roof is a Staff Materials Scientist at Zeus Industrial Products. Her foci are customer process development, custom materials development and specifications derivation. She was one of the inventors of Fluoropeelz- Zeus’ peelable fluoropolymer heat shrink material, which is heavily utilized in most major catheter manufacturing processes. Dr. Roof graduated from the University of South Carolina with a PhD in Inorganic Materials chemistry and has been on staff at Zeus for almost 10 years. Roof has presented seminars on medical device construction and engineered materials properties at a variety of universities, including Johns Hopkins and Clemson and major OEM’s like St. Jude Medical and Boston Scientific.
