Overview:

Lavonte is a biochemistry, mathematics, and pre-medicine senior who joined the VINSE Tech Crew in the summer of 2022. In the cleanroom, Lavonte specializes in the nanofabrication of solar cells used in outreach to teach students about renewable energy and introduce them to the world of nanoscience. To accomplish this, he uses techniques and tools for deposition, etching, and lithography to add, remove, and pattern metals into electrodes for the devices to work. Lavonte enjoys seeing how nanoscience can combine varied fields such as immunology, optics, and chemistry to achieve incredible outcomes by interactions on such a small scale. Outside of the cleanroom, Lavonte participates in research in synthesizing organic compounds to activate certain enzymes involved in inflammation. Along with that, he is a math learning assistance and a tutor for many STEM courses.
