For Authors

Vanderbilt University Press acquires books in areas like global health and caregiving; Latin American and Hispanic studies; law; higher education; human rights and civil rights; sociology, anthropology, and history; US politics and policy; studies of race, class, gender, and sexuality. We also publish books with a regional focus on Tennessee and the South, including, for example, books on country music. The Press does not publish fiction or poetry.

Submission Guidelines

We welcome the submission of a full manuscript or a book proposal accompanied by at least one sample chapter. A cover letter should describe the book's purpose and focus, its approximate or proposed length and number of illustrations, and a statement about whether your project is under consideration elsewhere. If submitting a book proposal, you should include one to two paragraph summaries of each proposed chapter.
