This week, we highlight Professor J. Andr\u00e9s Gannon, Assistant Professor in the Department of
\nPolitical Science at Vanderbilt University. He is also a Faculty Affiliate at the Data Science
\nInstitute. In Spring 2024, students can look forward to him teaching DS 3100: Fundamentals of
\nData Science.<\/p>\n
Professor Gannon’s educational journey began at the University of California, Berkeley, where
\nhe attained his BA in Political Science in 2012. He then furthered his studies at the University of
\nCalifornia, San Diego, earning an MA in Political Science in 2017 and culminating in a PhD in
\nPolitical Science in 2021.<\/p>\n
His career has seen him hold various esteemed positions. Prior to his current role, he
\nwas a Stanton Nuclear Security Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. He has also
\ncontributed as an International Security Program Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Harvard
\nKennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, a Hans J. Morgenthau
\nResearch Fellow at the Notre Dame International Security Center, and a PhD Eisenhower
\nDefence Fellow at the NATO Defence College.<\/p>\n
When asked about his passion for the field, Professor Gannon remarked, \u201cWhat excites me the
