Jillian Balser

I believe in the inner wisdom and resiliency that exists within each individual and feel honored to walk beside my clients as they tap into their own inner resources and engage in their unique healing journey. I take a person-centered and integrative approach to care, weaving mindfulness and self-compassion into the fiber of my clinical work. I am committed to social justice and strive to provide care that is culturally responsive and prioritizes safety in the therapeutic relationship.

Jillian enjoys working with clients with a wide variety of clinical concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, body image issues, and eating disorders. She has a special interest in student-athlete mental health and enjoys working with athletes as they navigate stressors associated with school, sport, and wellness. Jillian incorporates elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness into her therapeutic work. In addition, she has completed training in attachment and somatic-based Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).

Jillian earned her Master of Public Health degree from Vanderbilt University and her Master of Science in Social Work degree through the University of Tennessee. Jillian has a rich educational and experiential background in trauma-informed care and the treatment of eating disorders.  As a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) through Yoga Alliance®, Jillian also has experience leading trauma-informed yoga in various behavioral health settings and enjoys incorporating mindfulness and movement-based therapies into her work with clients.

As self-care, Jillian enjoys all kinds of crafting (particularly painting, sewing, and drawing), being outside in nature, running, practicing yoga, and spending time with family and friends.
