Know before you go: What faculty, staff and postdocs need to know about Vanderbilt’s new parking program

Vanderbilt’s new parking program takes effect Monday, August 24, bringing a new zone-based approach to permits.

Whether you have an annual permit or park on campus occasionally through the daily parking option, here’s a quick refresh for faculty staff and postdoctoral scholars on campus parking.

If you have an annual parking permit

Your annual permit is assigned to a specific parking zone. During program hours, Monday through Friday before 2:30 p.m., park in your assigned zone.

After 2:30 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends, annual permit holders may park in any annual permit zone.

Know your zone

You can view your zone assignment on the annual parking portal and find your address on the annual permit zone map.

What if my zone is full?

If your assigned zone is full when you arrive, use the nearest zone with available parking. If parking in another zone results in a citation because you were unable to park in your assigned zone, Parking and Commuter Services can review the situation and waive the citation.

If you use daily parking

Daily parking remains available for eligible members of the Vanderbilt community who do not have an annual permit or prefer to pay only on the days they park.

Daily parking participants use designated daily parking zones, and charges are applied based on the applicable daily rate.

Everyone should know

Annual permit zone waitlists remain open

Parking and Commuter Services is actively managing annual permit zone waitlists. If you did not receive your preferred zone or want to switch from daily parking to an annual parking permit, you can join the waitlist on the parking portal.

As spaces become available and actual parking utilization becomes clearer, individuals will be moved from waitlists where capacity allows.

New enhanced VandyRide

VandyRide connects major parking areas with campus destinations and can be a convenient option after you park.

As part of these updates, expanded VandyRide shuttle service supports the parking system and improves mobility across campus.

Multiple daytime shuttles operate to connect parking areas, offices, academic buildings, and key campus destinations throughout the day.

VandyRide daytime shuttle service is available to the Vanderbilt community, including faculty, staff and postdoctoral scholars. It is designed to make moving around campus easier without needing to relocate your vehicle.

Evening VandyRide service continues to provide convenient evening transportation for Vanderbilt students, faculty and staff during hours when the university is in session.

  • Daytime VandyRide: Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Evening VandyRide: Monday through Friday, 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Keep your vehicle information updated

Vehicle information can be updated through the parking portal for annual permit holders or the Vanderbilt Commute Hub for daily parkers.

We’re listening

We know the zone approach is a significant change in how parking works at Vanderbilt. During these first few weeks, we ask the community to give the new system a chance to operate while Parking and Commuter Services collects real-world data.

The team is committed to listening, responding to issues and adjusting as needed.
