Jessica Harthcock is the Founder & Chief Executive Officer at Utilize Health, a specialty care coordination solution that focuses on creating a better healthcare experience for patients, increased revenue for providers and a cost savings for payers. Utilize Health was born out of personal experience after Jessica was paralyzed at age 17 and spent years traveling in search of highly specialized rehabilitation treatments that eventually helped her learn to walk again. Amazed at how much of the work her family had to do on their own, Jessica vowed to create a service that assists patients as they traverse the healthcare system.At Utilize Health, Jessica is responsible for formulating and overseeing the vision and strategic plan. Additionally, Jessica is involved in many otheraspects of the business: patient engagement and retention, business development, raising capital and product development.Jessica has always been attracted to entrepreneurial activities. Before making the full- time leap to entrepreneurship, Jessica started several initiatives and programs that received national recognitions and awards.Jessica received her B.A. from Louisiana State University and her M.Ed with a focus in Organizational Leadership from Vanderbilt University.
Q. What excites you most about the Wond’ry?
A. I started my business after grad school. I have been mentored by industry leaders and other startup founders. I credit much of our company’s success to the community who gave us advice and connected us to customers. I would love to give that experience to someone to pay it forward.
Q. What do you feel are the most important skills you have to offer in your role as a mentor?
A. I’ve “been there and done that” so to speak. Building a company and being a founder is difficult. If I can help someone through this, that’s rewarding to me.
Q. What has been your proudest moment in your career?
A. Thus far, its been building Utilize Health and an incredible team.
Q. What has surprised you most about your job?
A. Every day is new. Every day I find a new challenge. While this can be exhausting, I love the thrill and the chase it brings.
