Ambassador Spotlight

Greetings Commodores and the people of Nashville!

My name is Varun Kaushal. I am a second year MBA student at the Owen graduate school of Management – Vanderbilt University. I am one of 6 great student ambassadors at the Wond’ry. I was born and raised in the Middle East, in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. I am one of the few people in the world who did not grow up in their country of citizenship! Moving to India as part of my electronics and communication degree was a huge culture shock for me despite moving to, what essentially is, my Home Country. What this has also given me however, is a diverse cultural experience. And I hope to bring that experience into play when working at the Wond’ry.

Vanderbilt has always been known to have an inclusive culture. As a community, and a group of students, we appreciate, share and value different perspectives. As an international student, I can surely say that I have felt that warmth from the students. Now at the Wond’ry, I want to do my bit to give back to the community and help in any way possible. As part of this, I will be pursuing a project to compile the list of all African-American student athletes at VU and developing a database which shows which cities and areas they came from and give them due recognition. I am also looking to work with the international scholars center to organize workshops for both local and international students on the importance of diversity, and ways to embrace and leverage diversity to have an overall better experience!

The best part is that the opportunity that the Wond’ry provides me to contribute cannot be replicated by any school. It is truly entrepreneurial at its core! We encourage everyone to come and explore the Wond’ry, talk to us about your ideas, things that you want to create/innovate, and the Wond’ry will help you. Vanderbilt gives you the education to achieve bigger and better things, however, the Wond’ry gives you the unparalleled opportunity to use those skills in a psychologically safe environment and create something magical. So why don’t you come check us out? (And have some delicious candy on me!).

We look forward to having you on board!

Best,
Varun Kaushal
