Green Zipcars have arrived on campus

Posted by on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 in News, Transportation.

Vanderbilt is pleased to announce the arrival of two new “green” Zipcars on campus.  The success of the campus-wide car sharing program prompted the University and Medical Center parking offices to request that two hybrid Toyota Priuses be placed in Lot 113B, located at the corner of 21st & Pierce Avenues across from the Village at Vanderbilt. The two Priuses have been added in hopes of advancing Vanderbilt’s efforts to provide additional alternative transportation options in convenient locations across campus.

All Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center faculty, staff and students may join the Zipcar program for an annual individual membership fee of only $35. Departments can sign up for the program at no charge. Hourly rates for individuals and departments range from $7 to $10 per hour, depending on the vehicle, and include gas and insurance.

In addition to the new Priuses, five other Zipcars are located in convenient locations around campus:
Lot 3 (in front of Kissam)
Lot 15 (behind Sarratt Student Center)
Lot 84 (along 18th Ave. behind Hank Ingram House)
Lot 96 (off Magnolia Circle)
