Natural foods store on campus garners recognition

Nectar opened in Barnard Hall in the fall of 2006.

Nectar, a natural foods store located in Barnard Hall, recently won several industry awards for its unique approach to providing students with natural, organic and gourmet food options.

The store earned the 2007 Society of Environmental Graphic Design’s A Lot with a Little Award, the National Association of College and University Food Services’ Best in the Business C-Store Competition in the category “The Big Idea – Customer Service Innovation,” and a gold Loyal E. Horton Dining Award in the category “Single Retail Stand Alone Concept.”

Nectar, which has been featured in the national media including USA Today, is stocked with some 1,000 products, including fresh produce, organic to-go meals, Earth-friendly bath and body products and biodegradable detergents and cleaners. It opened for student use in fall 2006.
