A Commitment to Community Service is our challenge to our student-athletes to give back to the Nashville community and to individuals who are in need through a clearly defined program of service. Our student-athletes will be given opportunities to develop the foundation for a lifelong commitment to volunteerism.

Vanderbilt Athletics provides a global service opportunity for staff and student-athletes to experience together. We partner with Soles4Souls, and have taken trips to Tanzania, Costa Rica, Cuba, Jamaica and Morocco. Student-athletes have the opportunity to participate in service projects as well as many cultural events.
Vanderbilt University athletic teams compete with each other to raise the most funds and awareness throguh Dancing Dores and Dance Marathon for our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital (Monroe Carell Jr. Chidlren’s Hospital at Vanderbilt) which treats children from our area and provides life saving care to sick and injured kids in need.
2021: All teams raised $46,307.84 in the midst of the initiative being completely virtual.
2020: All teams raised $41,694.75! Four student-athletes were recognized and added to the ‘Comma Club,’ meaning they raised over $1000.00 dollars individually. One of our student-athletes was given a distinguished Dores award for raising the most money and being a Dancing Dores champion throughout the entire year.
2019: Participating teams raised $21,629.31! Five student-athletes held Vanderbilt University’s top 30 individual fundraisers!
