A Commitment to Career Development places a priority on preparing for life after intercollegiate sports. The program acquaints student-athletes with the job search process, provides networking opportunities, and ultimately assists with job placement. As the Student-Athlete Development program works towards the development of the total person, the ultimate goal is to develop individuals who will have rewarding careers and productive lives.

Student-Athlete Summer Internship Program

The goal of the Vanderbilt University Athletics Summer Internship Program is to give student-athletes the opportunity to develop knowledge of profession and networking, while gaining professional-level experience and perspective on their futures. Based on the student-athletes’ interests, they are partnered with numerous businesses in the Nashville area where they complete twenty hours a week.

In addition to the internship, weekly professional development workshops are administered by the Vanderbilt Career Center. Workshops include: workplace culture, resume’ and cover letter writing, social media and online presence, the importance of networking, developing interview techniques and discovering a potential career path.

All Vanderbilt Student-Athletes are encouraged to take advantage of the services at the university Career Center. The Career Center is located on the second floor of the Student Life Center.
