Posted by on Monday, October 19, 2009 in news.

Dear SEAL Members-

I am sure many of you know that Elinor Ostrom of Indiana University-Bloomington was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics yesterday for her career of path breaking work on management of common-pool resources. What many of you might not have known is that Elinor is a member of SEAL. Her work is well known to all SEAL members, I am sure, and has profoundly influenced the work of many of us, myself clearly included.

I know I can speak for all SEAL members in extending our heartiest congratulations to Elinor for this well-deserved honor, and to thank her for her continued association with SEAL—we are privileged to count her as a member.

J.B. Ruhl

SEAL President
