SEAL News: March 5, 2009 – Dues and Board of Directors

Posted by on Thursday, March 5, 2009 in news.

Dear SEAL members,

I am writing to you for two purposes.

First, I’d like to remind you to pay your SEAL dues for 2009 ($45). Your dues provide the funding for recurring SEAL expenses such as administrative assistance, web hosting, and conference planning. We have tried to make this easy by enabling you to pay by credit card or PayPal on the SEAL website. For access, here is a link: http://law.vanderbilt.edu/seal/duespay.htm , and a shortcut less likely to be broken by line wrapping in your mail program: http://tinyurl.com/cfbtpx . If you have a PayPal account but wish to pay by credit card, you might need to hit the “continue without logging in” button after filling in your credit card information. If you have any trouble, Ms. Christie Bishop (615.322.1435, christie.bishop@vanderbilt.edu ) can help you with the process.

The second reason for sending this message is to present to you the slate of two candidates for the two new positions on the SEAL Board of Directors. After soliciting nominations, the Elections Committee has approved the nominations of Julie Seaman (http://www.law.emory.edu/faculty/faculty-profiles/julie-seaman.html) and Robin Kar (http://www.lls.edu/academics/faculty/kar.html ). To vote, please login in to the survey set up for recording your vote on Survey Monkey at the following link, http://tinyurl.com/bl9xmt . The survey will ask for your name, the password (which is “I paid my dues”) and will enable you to vote for the candidate(s) of your choice. The reason that the voting survey asks for your name is so that I can confirm that you are current on dues and catch anyone who gets so excited that they end up voting twice. Other than the Survey Monkey staff, no one else has access to the votes and I will keep your vote confidential. If you would rather vote by snail mail, please contact Ms. Christie Bishop and she will send you a paper ballot. Votes are due April 1, 2009.

Truly yours,

Jeffrey E. Stake

SEAL President
