Vanderbilt Religious Life Leaders Invite Students to Discuss Loss, Hope and Healing in a Violent World
Office ofthe University Chaplain & Religious Life
Thursday, March 17, 3-6 pm, Office of the University Chaplain and Religious Life at 401 24th Avenue (behind Branscomb Quad).

Vanderbilt’s Office of the University Chaplain and Religious Life, along with Vanderbilt’s affiliated chaplains and student leaders, will host an open gathering of students to discuss the tragic loss of Taylor Force, a student in the Owen Graduate School of Management, who was killed while on a spring break trip in Israel. All students are welcome whether they identify with any religious tradition or not.

Our university chaplains, and affiliated Jewish and Christian chaplains, will lead two successive group discussions—one at 3:15 and one at 4:30—on how we maintain hope, offer comfort and make sense out of tragedies driven by senseless violence. Our many student religious organizations, working under the direction of our Interfaith Council, will be present to welcome all students as they take part in raising important questions while seeking the wisdom necessary to move forward with courage and confidence. There will also be rooms open for smaller gatherings before and after the discussion, as well as for private counsel with a chaplain if desired.

If any student needs counseling prior to Thursday, please contact the Office of the University Chaplain (615-322-2457), or the Psychological & Counseling Center ((615) 322-2571).
