David Walker: Comeback America: Turning the Country Around and Restoring Fiscal Responsibility

November 19th at 7:00pm in the Student Life Center

We are a nation divided on almost every issue. Few debates are as contentious as those around our national debt. Republicans say it is too high. Democrats say it is not a near term problem. In the coming months the two major parties will once again debate raising the nation’s debt ceiling. But how big is the problem really and how do we go about solving it? The man with the answers is David Walker.

David Walker is the former controller for the Government Accountability Office. Basically, he was the country’s top accountant. He understands our nation’s finances better than anyone else and is acutely aware of what our nation has to do moving forward to stay prosperous and solvent. Students will be exposed to what our nation’s real financial status is, independent of political bias.

We will welcome Mr. Walker to campus to bring this crucial discussion to the forefront. As surveyed last year, the looming debt crisis is one of the top issues on student’s minds. With student debt growing larger and larger, David Walker will shed some light on what we can do to comeback.
