Vandy Cooks healthy cooking demonstrations are offered in The Rec’s teaching kitchen and provided by the Rec and Health Plus. Demonstrations are free, open to all and lead by Vanderbilt's celebrated chefs, registered dietitians, and expert guests. Tasty samples and recipes with nutrition analysis are provided at each session.

Join Sous Chef Austin Irvin as he leads November’s free cooking demonstration–Vandy Cooks. Chef Irvin is chef for the Vanderbilt University Campus Dining and passionate about sharing his culinary expertise with the Vanderbilt community. November’s healthy cooking demonstration is Fall, a Time for Sharing the Harvest. The featured recipe is Roasted Fall Squash with Freekeh and Kale. Take away ideas and recipes for foods to share at all your upcoming gatherings with family and friends.

Teaching Kitchen Reservations
Are you looking for a fun and creative way to host a meeting or celebrate with your group? Cooking is a great way to gather with friends and colleagues to team build. The Demonstration Kitchen is available to reserve for current students, faculty, staff, and the community. Staff are available to help you plan or lead your cooking event, or you can use the facilities independently.
Use the Teaching Kitchen for:
- Meeting & team building
- Preparing meals with groups
- Cooking classes or demos taught by one of our Registered Dietitians on a topic of your choice
