The University is limiting operations to protect our community at large from the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Effective immediately, Vandy Rec is CLOSED until further notice. The following adjustments to Vandy Rec Massage Therapy operations have been made:
- The Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center is CLOSED, effective Monday, March 16th until further notice.
- All Massages are CANCELLED until further notice.
- All Reservations with the exception of Varsity Athletics have been CANCELLED for the months of March and April.
Our skilled massage therapists provide relaxing, restorative bodywork using a variety of techniques to address your specific needs.
To Make an Appointment:
- All massage clients must be at least 18 years of age.
- Send an e-mail to with type and length of massage (30, 60, or 90-minute) being scheduled. Please note: e-mails are responded to 8 am- 5 pm, Monday – Friday.
- Payment must be made within 24-hours of scheduling. If payment has not been received after 24-hours of making your appointment, it will be canceled.
- Massages that will occur within 24-hours must be paid before the massage can be scheduled.
- If you have already made a payment at the time of scheduling, please include the order number in your e-mail.

All massages must be pre-paid with a credit/debit card. Effective July 1, 2018, we will no longer accept the Vanderbilt Commodore Card as an online form of payment for massages. Commodore Card payments must be made in person at the Rec Welcome Desk within 24-hours of scheduling the massage appointment.
Cancellations and No-Shows:
Characterized by a smooth manipulation and kneading of the muscles with oils to promote stress relief, improve circulation, relieve muscle pain, increase flexibility, and induce relaxation.
A deep massage of the muscles and foundation tissues used in athletic activities, often around the joints. It combines classical Swedish style with trigger point and compression techniques to reduce soreness. Perfect for preparing for sports activities or after a strenuous workout.
Enhances the function of muscles and joints, improves circulation and relieves mental and physical fatigue. The gentle, noninvasive approach can ease discomfort associated with pregnancy and is only performed during the second and third trimesters.
Acupressure (30, 60, & 90 min only)
Ancient healing art using the fingers to gradually press key healing points, which stimulates the body's natural self-curative abilities. Acupressure releases tension, increases circulation, and reduces pain.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep work brings about realignment of postural distortions and restores proper range of motion by freeing congested muscle attachments. Muscle function and awareness are balanced, and elasticity is revived. (with trigger point therapy if necessary)
Lymphatic Drainage Massage (60 & 90 min only)
A type of gentle massage intended to encourage the natural drainage of lymph fluid. This type of massage is used for people who retain fluid due to surgery, injury, or poor circulation.
Muscle Activation (60 & 90 min only)
A technique that activates the inhibited muscle to restore full firing function of the muscle. Consultation is required before scheduling for this technique.

Juli Roberts, LMT
Juli Roberts attended Cumberland Institute in Brentwood, TN, and she is certified in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular, Pre & Post Event Sports Massage, Acupressure, Lymphatic, Pre-Natal & Kinesiotaping. She also uses Passive, Active, & Isometric Stretching, as well as PNF Stretching.
Ashley Black, LMT
Ashley is a licensed massage therapist and member of the American Massage Therapy Association. Ashley Graduated from the Georgia Career Institute in 2016. She offers a wide range of massage treatments, depending on your need. Some of her specialties include: Swedish relaxation massage, deep tissue, and therapeutic treatments that are tailored to the individual. She is certified as a prenatal specialist as well as being certified in warm bamboo massage. Ashley is passionate about helping others create a healthy balance in their lives by relieving pain, alleviating stress, or simply providing relaxation. She finds fulfillment knowing that she has made a difference in helping her clients feel better.
