Facility Closure Announcements

The University is limiting operations to protect our community at large from the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Effective immediately, Vandy Rec is CLOSED until further notice. We will continue to update you on future services. The following adjustments to Vandy Rec Outdoor Recreation operations have been made:

Facilities

  • The Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center is CLOSED, effective Monday, March 16th, until further notice.

Programming

  • All Outdoor Rec Trips are CANCELLED until further notice.
  • All Climbing Wall programs are CANCELLED until further notice.
  • All Aquatic programs are CANCELLED until further notice. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Swim School Lessons
    • Kayak Roll Clinics
    • Club Sports
    • Intramural Sports

Reservations

  • All Reservations with the exception of Varsity Athletics are CANCELLED for the months of March and April.

Trip Information:

  • Trips are open to all Vanderbilt University Undergraduate and Graduate Students, Faculty, Staff, VUMC Staff, & Rec Members.
  • Prices include transportation (unless otherwise indicated), in-camp food, group and/or specialized equipment, and fees. Personal gear may also be rented from the ORC. The Commodore Card is accepted, as well as credit cards, debit cards, or cash.
  • Participants must be 18 years or older.
  • Beginners are welcome on all trips unless noted otherwise.
  • You MUST know how to swim for any canoe trip, kayak trip, SUP trip, or trip to Snail Shell Cave.

 

How to Register:

  1. Trips are open to all Vanderbilt University undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, faculty, staff, VUMC employees, and Rec members. To be eligible to register and participate on an Adventure Trip, you must be affiliated with the Vanderbilt community. 
  2. Prices include transportation, in-camp food, group and/or specialized equipment, and fees. Personal gear may also be rented from the Outdoor Recreation Center. The Vanderbilt Commodore card is accepted, as well as credit/debit cards, cash, or check.
  3. To register for a trip, go to www.vanderbilt.edu/outrec. Select Adventure Trips. Scroll down to desired trip. Click to register and pay online.
  4. Children are not permitted on any trip. Participants must be 18 years of age or older.
  5. Beginners are welcome on all trips unless noted otherwise.
  6. Trips are sold on a first-come/first serve basis. 
  7. Prices are advertised as member/non-member.
  8. TRIP AVAILABILITY: If a trip still has space after the registration deadline, it can still be signed-up for until the Pre-Trip Meeting.  The actual trip registration takes place on the  Fusion Outdoor Rec Page . Here you can click on a trip to see how many spots are left. Don’t forget to LOG IN if you are a Vanderbilt person. 
  9. If you are at VU as an Intern or for a Research Job, you are welcome on our Adventure Trips. On the rec.vanderbilt.edu page, click on SIGN UP to create a profile. Then you will be able to register.
  10. If a trip is full, click on the WAIT LIST Button (and Log in) to get a spot on the wait list. You will be contacted by e-mail if a spot opens.

Trip Refund Policy

If you wish to cancel your adventure trip reservation for any reason, please adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. You must notify 
  2. If you request a cancellation of your reservation more than 30 days in advance, you will be issued a full refund.
  3. If you are requesting a cancellation less than 30 days in advance, you are responsible for finding a replacement participant and will be issued a refund. If necessary, we will assist if there is a waiting list for this trip.
  4. If Linda helps you find a replacement for this trip, an administrative fee will be deducted from your refund amount; please see the table below:
