Student Recreation Fee Waiver Policy and Request Form

Mandatory fees are set by the Vanderbilt Board of Trust and are billed through the Office of Student Accounts. All registered students are charged a recreation fee. Fees are part of student registration and go to support University programs and services.

Some students receive scholarships or awards that pay all or a portion of their tuition and fees. The terms and conditions of these awards vary, and it is each student’s responsibility to understand the awards’ cost coverage. Any portion of tuition and/or fees not covered by an award remains the student’s financial responsibility.

Waivers are issued on a per-semester basis and do not automatically roll forward. Students must meet one of two stipulations in order to receive a one-time semester waiver:

  1. Distance- A student residing outside a circle of sixty miles from the Recreation Center. A student must petition by submitting the waiver form below in order to receive consideration by Rec Administration. All students eligible for a waiver must petition for a waiver beginning November 5th at noon and before 8 a.m. on December 18th for the Spring 2019 semester. No waivers will be granted unless requests are received by the deadline. Waivers for prior semesters will not be granted.
  2. Part-time Enrollment- A part-time student enrolled for 4 or fewer credit hours (including audit credits) automatically receives the fee waiver through the Office of Student Accounts. Graduate students carrying thesis or dissertation hours are considered full-time students and are therefore not eligible for a waiver of fees based on part-time status.

Please allow up to 10 business days to process your request. Approved waivers may not be reflected as a credit on your student account until the second billing of the semester. For status updates on your account, check your active tab in your YES account.
