What are the Rec hours of operations?
We are open Monday through Friday, 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 11 p.m. Be sure to check our facility hours webpage for the most up-to-date information regarding closures and facility hours.
I am a Vanderbilt University Medical Center Employee, can I get a membership?
Yes! All medical center employees are eligible for the Community membership.
I am a Nashville Resident, can I get a membership?
Yes! Here at the Rec, Nashville Residents fall under our Community membership rate.
Can I try out the Rec for the day?
Yes, we’d love to have you come give us a try! Stop by the Welcome Desk for a tour or if you just want to work out, it is $10 for a daily guest pass. All guests must be sponsored by a current member if they are not associated with Vanderbilt University (i.e. a student, a faculty or staff member, or a VUMC employee). If you do not have a sponsor, you will not be allowed to utilize our facilities. Please see our policies on guest passes at www.vu.edu/vandyrec.
Do you provide child care?
Unfortunately, no. All children under the age of 3 are admitted free, however, any child over the age of 3 must either have a membership or purchase a guest pass good for one day. All minors are required to stay with a parent or legal guardian over the age of 18 at all times while in our facility due to the Vanderbilt University Protection of Minors policy.
What is the cost of membership?
Membership rate vary by affiliation with Vanderbilt University. It’s best to view the rates at www.vu.edu/vandyrec under the Member Services menu tab. If you have questions after viewing our rates, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
What are the payment methods for memberships?
All memberships must be paid for on a major credit or debit card. Each month, between the 1st and 5th day of the month, membership dues will automatically be charged to the major credit or debit card put on file in our membership system during the initial set up of your membership.
What does my membership include?
Your membership gives you full access to the fitness centers, indoor pool, multiple gym courts, the climbing wall, our indoor field house, a wide variety of free group fitness classes, discounted programs and services, and access to manage your membership online via our member portal.
Can I cancel my membership at any time?
We hate to see you go! Here at the Rec, there are no contracts to sign, so if you need to cancel for any reason, please let us know by the end of the current month by filling out our Membership Cancellation form located on our website under the Member Services menu tab.
Can I put my membership on hold?
Yes! Let us know by the end of the current month by filling out our Membership Cancellation form located on our website under the Member Services menu tab. You can restart your membership at your leisure!
As a member, can I bring a friend or pay a small fee to bring a friend occasionally?
Guest passes for friends and family can be obtained at the Welcome Desk for $10 per pass, per day. For more information, please see our policies about guests at the Rec.
How can I update my card on file for my membership dues each month?
We are happy to help! Please look through the “How to Change my Credit Card” guide. If you have more questions, please contact us at email@example.com.
My fiancé is interested in obtaining a membership at the Rec. Can they be a family member on my membership type?
As fiancés are not legally married spouses, they will need to purchase an individual Community membership. For more information, please see our membership policies.
What should I wear/bring with me to work out?
You’ll want to wear comfortable clothes and athletic shoes, however, they don't have to be fancy or expensive. You'll need a lock if you are going to use the locker room and a swim cap to go swimming. If you forget these items, they are available at the Welcome Desk for a small fee. Check out the Lockers and Towels page for information about equipment for purchase and rent.
Are towels available for rent?
With the rental of a medium or large locker for a semester, towel service is included free of charge. If you do not wish to rent a locker, towels can be rented per day for $1 at the Welcome Desk. Please see the Lockers & Towels page for more information.
Do you have trainers?
We have several trainers and can help you choose the one to help you reach your health and fitness goals. Visit the Fitness and Wellness menu tab at www.vu.edu/vandyrec for more information about personal training.
