Facility Closure Announcements

The University is limiting operations to protect our community at large from the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Effective immediately, Vandy Rec is CLOSED until further notice. We will continue to update you on future services. If you have any questions, please contact Kenny Moore, Director, at Go Dores! 

The following adjustments to Vandy Rec Fitness operations have been made:


  • The Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center is CLOSED, effective Monday, March 16th until further notice.


  • All Group Fitness classes and Personal Training sessions are CANCELLED until further notice.
  • All Biometrics TestingNutrition Coaching sessions, and Food Education programs are CANCELLED until further notice.


  • All Reservations with the exception of Varsity Athletics have been CANCELLED for the months of March and April.


Hiring a personal trainer could be one of the best investments you can make in your overall health and well-being. The Rec has nationally certified personal trainers that will meet with you and design an exercise program based on your goals and fitness level. All personal training sessions will take place at the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center at a time that fits your schedule.

Alyson Dickson

Alyson is an American Council on Exercise (ACE) certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness instructor who enjoys trail running, cycling, and core training. Her goal is to help her clients achieve their greatest possible fitness level, regardless of their current limitations or time constraints. She will probably try to make you laugh, even as you sweat! Alyson's schedule is flexible - early mornings and afternoons tend to be limited, but she is willing to work with her clients to find a viable meeting time.

Johnny Pryor

Johnny is a certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness instructor through International Fitness Association, and a certified Cycling and Boot Camp Instructor through FiTOUR.  For the past twenty years, Johnny has been cultivating his passion for health and fitness and sharing it with others through personal training and group fitness. One of his specialties  is helping athletes advance to the next tier in their respective sport. He has assisted athletes of all ages with maintaining high levels of fitness and keeping them injury free.

Kathy Mead

Kathy, M.S., is a seasoned Exercise Coach, Health Coach, Personal Trainer, and Group Exercise Instructor. She is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the American Council on Exercise (ACE). Kathy is passionate about learning what each client is striving to achieve and working together as a team to reach that goal. She has over ten years of experience with a variety of clients including: athletes, prenatal women, and those who simply want to move more today than they did yesterday. Kathy enjoys reading, weight lifting, cycling, yoga, baking, and hanging out with friends, family, and her cats.

Tramaine Crook

Tramaine, M.S., is a certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor through International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA). He is also a USA Level 2 Boxing Coach. He is passionate about helping others reach their full potential in life through health and fitness. His specialty areas include: sports performance, functional training, strength & conditioning, cardio training, muscle definition & toning, rehabilitation, weight loss, boxing and fitness boxing. His training philosophy is: "Have fun with your workouts. Enjoy living a healthy lifestyle and when in doubt, throw a jab cross to knock the stress out." 




Alex Hanflink

Alex is certified personal trainer through American Council on Exercise (ACE) who loves weightlifting and boxing. She has been a competitive athlete her entire life playing volleyball, basketball, and tennis. She loves helping people gain confidence through fitness and believes it is essential to living a healthy lifestyle. 



Andrea Kay

Andrea Kay MS, believes “Train for Longevity” is the key to success and she takes great pride in helping her clients reach their goals and achieve their personal best. She has a Master of Science in Sport and Wellness Leadership, has been in the health and fitness profession over twenty years, and has participated in numerous sporting events including ½ marathons, sprint triathlons, and time trial cycling events.  Her certifications include ACE Certified Personal Trainer, AEA Water Fitness Professional, ACSM Certified Group Fitness Professional, Balanced Body Certified Pilates Instructor, Schwinn Certified Cycling Instructor, and is American Red Cross Lifeguard Certified.
