Program Overview
The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Science and the Department of Psychology and Human Development in Peabody College jointly offer an interdisciplinary graduate program in Psychological Sciences. The collaboration of these two schools and departments strengthens and broadens the educational and research opportunities offered to our students. The program leads to a Ph.D. in one of the following six areas:
- Clinical Science
- Cognition and Cognitive Neuroscience
- Cognition in Context (Peabody College)
- Developmental Science (Peabody College)
- Neuroscience
- Quantitative Methods
The administrative home of a graduate student–whether in the College of Arts and Science or in Peabody College–is determined by the primary departmental affiliation of their Ph.D. mentor. Regardless of departmental affiliation, all students in the Ph.D. program have access to the same resources and facilities and enjoy five years of guaranteed support while benefiting from a one-on-one mentorship model that emphasizes rigorous scientific training in the concepts and methodologies of the various disciplines of the psychological sciences.

Many of our faculty also participate in an Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Ph.D. program at the Vanderbilt Brain Institute.
