Summary: 

Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos announced in November of 2014 that Vanderbilt is embarking on a process to reconfigure Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) as a not-for-profit academic medical center that is legally distinct from the university. Traci Nordberg, currently Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Human Resources Officer for the university and medical center, will assume the role of Chief Human Resources Officer for the future VUMC. The role Vanderbilt University is creating and recruiting for will serve as the Chief Human Resources Officer for the university and will be an important strategic partner with Vanderbilt’s senior leadership team in designing and implementing human resource services appropriate for the university and leading, mentoring, and managing a customer-oriented organization that maximizes human capital development, operational excellence, and financial strength. The Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Human Resources Officer will proactively address the following opportunities and goals: build a strong and deep human resources department, being a leader and mentor to Vanderbilt leaders, managers,and staff, as well as provide opportunities for professional education to expand and develop skill sets; openly assess all human resource functions and systems, determining whether resource expenditures and utilization are adequate and appropriate; create and implement human resource metrics for use in decision-making and problem-solving throughout the institution; and increase the university’s ability to recruit and retain faculty and staff through best practices, competitive benefits and compensation, talent development, and a continued commitment to diversity.
