The Center for Research Development and Scholarship (CRDS) at Vanderbilt University’s School of Nursing (VUSN) is pleased to announce one (1) Postdoctoral Fellow opening in the area of cancer and cancer survivorship. This position will provide a mentored training experience in cancer research and intervention development as part of the preparation for an academic position. Training opportunities will be related to specific cancer and cancer survivorship in patients with head and neck cancer, breast cancer, and vulnerable populations.

Activities will include day-to-day oversight of research study activities, preparing research study protocols and materials, grant writing, assisting with data collection and analysis, disseminating research findings, developing scientific manuscripts as lead author or co-author, presenting research findings at conferences, and performing other related duties. Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work as a team member, and experience conducting clinical studies and constructing Institutional Review Board applications are essential. It is expected that applicants with submit for external funding.

VUSN offers a two-year postdoctoral fellowship to nurse scientists who have completed a doctoral program (PhD) within the past five years. Postdoctoral fellows have access to exceptional resources to conduct their own research, including multiple opportunities to publish and assistance with grant-writing or project planning for the next stage of their research careers. During the two-year fellowship, fellows receive individualized mentoring and training to develop the skills and competencies needed to become successful independent investigators in their fields.
